How many People Travel for Thanksgiving?

By Thanksgiving 2025, about 79.9 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more. That includes 71.7 million who travel by car, while 5.84 million travel by plane — a record high for air travel on the holiday. The Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and the Sunday afterward, are prime travel days with heavy traffic and crowded airports across the country.
